RagNet - Time Doesn't Heal All
Synopsis: When side effects start kicking in for consumers of a new medicine called the Chronolixer, RagNet gets nosy and infiltrates the pharmaceutical facility of ApotheCorps to find just how much time can’t possibly heal all wounds.
-
Zafir DeLuca [ZUH-FEER DEH-LUKE-UH] - the narrator and lead. A private investigator on loan to the East Cleveland Division from Pittsburgh. No nonsense, but uses a grounded Noir detective voice to narrate. She has the most lines and may or may not become recurring.
-
(Noir detective voice) It was a Monday morning and the City of Guardians was stuck between pre-winter and monsoon season that you couldn’t tell whether you were in a jungle or in the suburbs. But as I was already accustomed to Ohio weather north of the Snow Belt, it didn’t surprise me at all.
-
(normal, skeptical) Time in a bottle? If it’s not an herb, I doubt it actually works.
-
(normal, melancholic) Subject 004 [zero-zero-four]... Age regression because of an overdose. There’s no saving him unfortunately…
-
-
Janine Gordon [JUH-NEEN GOR-DONE] - chief of the East Cleveland Division. A very no-nonsense figure. Think Lynne Thigpen as the Chief of ACME. She may be a recurring character.
-
Ah, you must be the transfer from the Pittsburgh division. Janine Gordon, and I’m the chief here.
-
Yes, but no. They’re on par with Eli Lilly and Co. with their monopoly on insulin, only they're local here and the only producer of bottled time.
-
-
Tony Padrino [TOE-KNEE PAH-DREE-NO] - the new partner and lead. Italian, and definitely not related to the Mafia by any means. Toned down Don Corleone. He might become a recurring character.
-
(sarcastic) Oh goodie, someone who can help me pick up the slack.
-
The less you know about me, the better. Capisce? All we got to do today is figure out this whole thing with this whatchamacallit…
-
That’s just it. Each of them healed but are suffering from time distortions. But now what? Is it just temporary?
-
-
Commercial Voice - someone who can do a medical commercial tone, females preferred due to the nature of the genre.
-
Can time truly heal wounds? Well now it can, with the new Chronolixer [KRON-O-LICKS-ER]. Distilled and purified chronons [CROW-NONS] can work wonders with scars, surface wounds, and internal bleeding.
-
Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, cramps, mood swings, hair loss, and spontaneous aging.
-
-
Morgan Alto/Penelope Valderez [PEN-EL-O-PEE VALL-DER-EZZ] - Channel 3 reporter and her body double. Morgan is a gentle press reporter who pursues truth, while Penelope is another agent for RagNet. Both have the same voice.
-
Morgan: (news interview) I’m Morgan Alto here with ApotheCorps [UH-POTH-IH-CORE] lead researcher Kairos Gladstone. Mr. Gladstone, what exactly is the Chronolixer that’s been sweeping the area’s medical advancements?
-
Penelope: (questioning) So it’s possible to restore something else to an original state, like inorganic materials like lakebeds and crystals? Fossils?
-
-
Kairos Gladstone [K-EYE-ROH-SS GLAD-STONE] - the top ApotheCorps researcher and is quite proud yet sinister. Just calm, corporate, and cunning, until consumed by power. Similar voiceprint to Robin Atkin Downes, Alan Cumming, or Logan Cunningham.
-
(interview) It’s a revolution in modern medicine. We here at ApotheCorps [UH-POTH-IH-CORE] have studied how to convert actual time into the best medical application! Without divulging into secrets, mind you, we’ve extracted particles of time from the air around us, distilled them into a liquid state, and purified them into a usable substance! So saying that we have extra time on our hands… it’s true, actually!
-
(menacing) Bravo, you clever crew. But do you really think we’d allow you the honor of revealing confidential trade secrets to the public sector?!
-
-
Greg Shale/Subject 004 - One of the test subjects. Old and slow but getting less senile.
-
(old and slow codger) Ah, are you the young’ens that the doc sent?
-
(still somewhat old, starts becoming more coherent) Well alright. Accidentally stepped on my rake and it clean cracked the noggin here a few days ago. Doctor says it’s a miracle how I survived after the others put that thingamabob ointment on the fracture.
-
-
Leslie Blaze/Subject 481 - One of the test subjects. A jabberjaw like Gretchen Hasselhoff and Stephanie Morgan in Backyard Baseball. Valley girl accent or Western USA-type dialect.
-
(stringing words together) And so I told the dentist that it wasn’t so much the injection as much as whatever they did to me, but the anaesthetics wore off within ten minutes and I had that cavity cleaned up and I felt soooooo good.
-
(fast) Actually, I’ve been hungrier since. They say metabolism works faster for some reason.
-
-
Dwaine Windrush/Subject 724 - One of the test subjects. Progressively getting slower. California towhead surfer vibes.
-
(slo-mo) Oh sure, they used it on me. Couldn’t lie about it.
-
(still slo-mo) But after all that, I still feel fine, just a bit slower than I should be, I think…
-
-
Bailey Schooler/Aion [AY-ON] - tour guide for ApotheCorps who is actually Eternal Time Incarnate. Quick to speak and anger, slow to listen. Open to interpretation, but any gender allowed.
-
Bailey: (angry) Hey! You can’t be here! Wait… (mood whiplash horror) WHAT?!
-
Aion: (humble, deific) My apologies, children of Eve. Allow me a small gift of gratitude and mercy.
